Meet granny teen
“The name comes from my grandmother, Mrs. Garlundteen Marie Alston Lewis. Before I started kindergarten, when my parents went to work, I attended day care at my grandparents house. I remember her creating all kinds of goodies in her kitchen”, says Angela Jeffery, owner of Granny Teen’s Sweets in Raeford, NC. “ I mainly remember how she would take items like flour, milk, apples and turn them into sweet treats. As I got older, she allowed me to be the assistant in her kitchen. In my teen years, Granny Teen moved into our family home. I continued to watch her and I learned to do what she did so well, both in the kitchen and in our long conversations. Just having her in my life has inspired me to move forward. Granny Teen lived to be ninety years old.
